THE MAGNIFICENCE OF AKHUNDZADA PEER SAIF UR-RAHMAN MUBARAK (RAHMATULLAH ALAIH)

The Saifi order embraces the four major orders namely Naqshbandi, Qadri, Chishti, and Soharwardi. The Saifi order (silsila) was founded by Akhundzada Peer Saif Ur Rahman Mubarak(Rahmatullah Alaih)) (1925-2010). Mubarak Sahib was a Sufi Sheikh of the Naqshbandi Mujaddadi order and practised the Hanfi school of Islam.

Akhundzada Peer Saif Ur Rahman (Rahmatullah Alaih) was born in a small village of Baba Kalai on 10th August 1925( 20th Muharram 1344 AH).

Mubarak Sahibs basic education from his father included Quran study. For his religious education, Mubarak Sahib moved to Peshawar in early 1940's and stayed there for many years, gaining knowledge of 'tafseer', hadith, usul-Fiqah, aqeeda, and tajweed.

Upon completion of his education, Mubarak Sahib returned to Afghanistan, where the Afghan Government in Archi allotted him land. Akhundzada Peer Saif Ur Rahman(Rahmatullaih Alaih) built a masjid and he became the Imaam and Khateeb of the masjid; and started offering free Dars e Nizami courses to the students.

During his stay at Archi, Mubarak Sahib met a famous Naqshbandi Sheikh and Sufi scholar Shah Rasool Taloqani(Rahmatullah Alaih) and requested oath of allegiance (bayet). Mubarak Sahib was granted silent dhikr (Qalbi dhikr) and bayet in the Naqshbandi order. Instantly, all psychospiritual organs (lataif ) of Aalom e Amr were activated. At this time Mubarak Sahib was thirty years of age.

Before his demise in 1381 AH, Shah Rasool(Rahmatullah Alaih) had ordered his disciples (mureed) to remain in the company of his favourite disciple, Maulana Hashim Samangani(Rahmatullah Alaih). Mubarak Sahib did bayet with Maulana Hashim Samangani (Rahmatullah Alaih) and started getting guidance in his spiritual journey.

In 1387 AH, Maulana Hashim Samangani(Rahmatullah Alaih) gave caliphate (khilafat) to Mubarak Sahib.

After spending three years in service of his master (Murshid), Mubarak Sahib was directed to Sheikh Hajji Pachero(Rahmatullah Alaih) for training in the Qadri order. Mubarak Sahib was soon bestowed with caliphate (khilafat) in this order (silsila) too.

Before his demise in 1391 AH, Maulana Hashim Samangani(Rahmatullah Alaih) ordered his disciples to the company of Akundzada Peer Saif Ur Rahman(Rahmatullah Alaih).

When Afghanistan came under Russian control many religious leaders and Sufi saints were arrested or killed. Mubarak Sahib was arrested in April 1987. When released, he(Rahmatullah Alaih) left Afghanistan for Pir Sabaq, a small town near Now'shera, where Mubarak Sahib provided religious guidance. In 1409-1410 AH Afridi tribes of Bara offered Mubarak Sahib land for a meeting house. At this time, the Saifi order (silsila) originated. Mubarak Sahib built a masjid, Dar Ul-Ulum and Khanqa, where he(Rahmatullah Alaih) could continue spiritual training of his disciples.

In Bara, Mubarak Sahibs preaching was opposed by a Deobandi, Mufti Munir Shakir who was backed by activists of his armed group, Lashkar e Islam, who were earlier expelled from Kurram Agency by the Political Agency due to his involvement in secular violence. He restored to violence against Peer Saif Ur Rahman(Rahmatullah Alaih) including initiation of the FM-based propaganda attacking and burning property.

Mubarak Sahib is famous for activating the hearts of disciples so that a clear vibrant can be seen in the chests of many of his followers. Many people have accepted Islam through him. The Saifi disciples practice the strictest compliance with sunnah, acquire activation of lataif and experience ecstasy (wajd) during the gatherings of dhikr.

In the present time, the Saifi order is one of the fastest growing order (silsila) in the world.
