THE MAGNIFICENCE OF HAZRAT IMAAM HASSAN(RADI ALLAAHU ANHU)
Hazrat Imaam Hassan(Radi Allaahu Anhu) was the elder son of Hazrat Ali Murtaza(Radi Allaahu Anhu) and Hazrat Fatimah Al-Zaharah(Radi Allaahu Anha) and grandson of Prophet
Muhammad ﷺ. He was the elder brother of Hazrat Imaam Hussein(Radi Allaahu Anhu).
Prophet ﷺ said, 'Hassan and Hussein are the Masters of the youth in Paradise'. 'Hassan and Hussein are my two sweet smelling flowers in this world'
Hazrat Imaam Hassan(Radi Allaahu Anhu), from head to the chest was identical to Prophet ﷺ, and Hazrat Imaam Hussein(Radi Allaahu Anhu), from chest to the feet was identical to Prophet ﷺ.
Hazrat Imaam Hassan's(Radi Allaahu Anhu) ranking is higher than Hazrat Imaam Hussein(Radi Allaahu Anhu) in the sense that Hazrat Imaam Hassan(Radi Allaahu Anhu) is older than Hazrat Imaam Hussein(Radi Allaahu Anhu). He has seen Prophet ﷺ more than Hazrat Imaam Hussein(Radi Allaahu Anhu). Hazrat Imaam Hassan(Radi Allaahu Anhu) has been in the association of the companions(Radi Allaahu Anhum) of Prophet ﷺ more than Hazrat Imaam Hussein(Radi Allaahu Anhu).
As a religious and political leader, Imaam Hassan(Radi Allaahu Anhu) abdicated his caliphate leadership with a companion of Prophet ﷺ, Hazrat Ameer e Muavia(Radi Allaahu Anhu) to unite the two opposing groups. The belief (aqeeda) of the Ahlus Sunnah Wa Jama'ah is that we believe in the peace treaty Hazrat Imaam Hassan(Radi Allaahu Anhu) negotiated with Hazrat Ameer e Muavia(Radi Allaahu Anhu) for peace, in the same way we believe in the battle Hazrat Imaam Hussein(Radi Allaahu Anhu) fought with Yazeed to save Islam.
It is narrated in a hadith that Prophet ﷺ said, 'Hazrat Imaam Hassan(Radi Allaahu Anhu) is a Saiyad (Master or Chief of the ummah). He would be part of a peace treaty to compromise between two Muslim groups'. (Bukhari)
Hazrat Imaam Hassan(Radi Allaahu Anhu) was martyred by giving him poison by the same clan from Kufa, who martyred Hazrat Imaam Hussein(Radi Allaahu Anhu). He was given poison on many occasions, but the last one was deadly.
Before passing away, Hazrat Imaam Hassan(Radi Allaahu Anhu) called for his son, Hazrat Qasim(Radi Allaahu Anhu), and gave him a mascot (taweez) and asked him to put it around his neck. In the most difficult of time, unwrap, and read it. In it was written, 'My son Qasim, a day will come when my brother Hussein will feel lonely, facing an enemy of tens of thousands. That will be the day when Islam will need to be saved by sacrifice, you must represent me on that day'.
Hazrat Imaam Hassan(Radi Allaahu Anhu) passed away in the month of Safar in the 50th Hijrah.
