DISAPPROVED (MAKHROOH e TANZEEHE) ACTIONS IN NAMAAZ

 

'O you who believe! Fear Allah as He should be feared..'

(Surah Ale-Imraan. verse 102)

 

Makhrooh e Tanzeehe acts in a Namaaz are not a sin, but reduce the sawaab.

 

1.    Reciting tasbeeh less than three times in either the ruku or the sajda. However, in a congregation, if the imaam rises before a muqtadee completes reciting the tasbeeh three times, then the muqtadee has to follow the imaam even if he has recited the tasbeeh less than three times. 2.    Reciting the same surah successively in a rakaat or reciting the same surah in all the rakaats. (Fatawa Razviyah)

3.    Placing hands prior to placing knees on the ground whilst going into sajda. Similarly, taking off knees first before the hands whilst returning from the sajda. (Bahar e Shariyat)

4.    Turning away finger from qibla whilst performing rukun like sajda.

5.    Keeping the head up or down from the level of back in ruku. (Bahar e Shariyat)

6.    Standing in qiyam with a support of a stick or wall without a valid reason. (Bahar e Shariyat)

7.    Swinging right or left in a qiyam position. (Bahar e Shariyat)

8.    Keeping eyes closed in Namaaz. However, if one loses concentration whilst keeping the eyes open, then there is no harm in closing the eyes. (Bahar e Shariyat)

9.    The thighs touching the abdomen in sajda for men. However, women's thighs must touch abdomen in sajda.

10. 'Picking up dropped amaama/cap repeatedly makes the act of amal e kaseer (forbidden) and leads to invalid Namaaz. One may pick it up once with the left hand. With the fear of sinful disobedience of Allah Ta'ala, it is better not to pick up the dropped amaama/cap.

11. 'Counting the number of surahs or tasbeeh on fingertips. It is better to count by pressing the fingertips without moving them. (Bahar e Shariyat)

12. 'Stretching the limbs in laziness, and making sound from the throat whilst cleaning it from cough, and coughing. (Fatawa Alamgiri)

13. 'Placing of two muqtadees adjoining the imaam in a congregation.

14. 'The imaam standing inside the mehrab or on the doorway of the mehrab. However, the imaam can do sajda in the mehrab or on the doorway provided his legs are outside the mehrab. (Fatawa Razviyah)

15. 'Performing Namaaz on the roof of the Kabah or the roof of a mosque.

16. 'Fixing a place in the mosque for performing Namaaz.

17. 'Fire in front of a Namazee. However, a lit up candle or lamp for light is not cursed or offensive. (Bahar e Shariyat, Fatawa Alamgiri)

18. 'Covering the forehead. (Fatawa Razviyah)

19. Performing Namaaz with a smelly mouth due to smoking. It is forbidden to enter the mosque until the foul smell clears. (Fatawa Razviyah)

20. 'Performing Namaaz in working clothing when another dress is available. Working clothing are those clothing which cannot be saved from getting dirty or soiled when working at home or at a workplace.

21. Keeping the length of the clothing longer than standard limits for arrogance and proudness is forbidden and haraam. (Fatawa Razviyah)
